Applied Mathematics

Degree offered: M.S.

Mathematicians use advanced mathematics to develop and understand mathematical principles. They also use advanced mathematics to solve engineering, computational, data analytics, manufacturing, and other real world problems. Students in the mathematics graduate program are likely to choose areas such as statistics, mathematical modeling, theoretical mathematics or applied mathematics. The goal of this program is to give the student a thorough background and research training their chosen area of applied mathematics. The faculty provide high-quality instruction and student mentoring to maintain an environment that enhances the learning of mathematics as a living discipline. Students participate in research activities with professors and may also provide service to the community.
