It is an honor and a privilege to join North Carolina A&T in celebrating its 135th Founders Day and the installation of Chancellor James R. Martin II. Although my time working with Dr. Martin at the University of Pittsburgh—when he served as the U.S. Steel Dean of Engineering—was brief, even before his rapid rise to become the inaugural Vice Chancellor of STEM Innovation and Research at Pitt, it was immediately clear that he is an inspiring leader who moves mountains by lifting the people around him so they can go on to accomplish more than they ever realized. His vision, integrity, and belief in human potential have shaped my own journey in lasting ways. I am grateful to witness this historic moment and excited for the transformative future he will help build for the Aggie community. Congratulations to Chancellor Martin and to the university on this remarkable new chapter.

Congratulations to Dr. Martin, II, on His official installation as the Chancellor of NCAT University. Dr. Martin and I are from the same Hometown in SC. Our Mothers taught HS together. I’m just beaming with joy for His Family and the University.
Wishing you all the success in leading the great N C A& T into many positive directions for students, faculty, and parents to be proud of, and keep the learning doors open to all! Thanks for giving me a t shirt ( from your hand to mine ) and listening to me talk about my connection to A&T: worked 35 years - Cooperative Extension (Forsyth co.- FCS extension agent),, seven siblings completed undergraduate degrees- 1958- 1980). Several nieces & nephews received BS and MS degrees. Our mother was named Mother of the Year in 1968! I believe in Aggie Pride and all the way Live!
To Chancellor Martin, Congratulations on your installation as Chancellor of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The university is under excellent leadership with you at the helm, and I’m confident A&T will continue to thrive under your guidance. Thank you for serving as a strong steward of this great institution. I’m reminded of a phrase you shared during an alumni town hall shortly after your hiring: "We must keep our foot on the gas." From what I’ve seen so far, you, the Board, faculty, staff—and most importantly, the students—are doing exactly that. Please continue to lead the university onward and upward, reaching new heights that Aggie students and alumni have long dreamed of. Thank you, and Aggie Pride!
